Is He Kidding Me?

So, one full week complete.  I had chemotherapy this morning beginning at 7:30.  The staff takes my blood and runs a full (non-fasting) CBC on it.  They are primarily monitoring the platelets, hemoglobin, white blood count and sugar.  If any of these get too low, they will not administer chemo.  Mine are all doing exceptionally good.
Then, at 8:30, we began the chemo.  It was a pretty slow process today, but I missed a lot of it because I slept for at least 1 ½ hours of it!  I feel bad for Muggy because she has to sit there with me.
Niece Kristina Winn drove over to Emory and the three of us went out for lunch.  She taught me a snazz-ma-tazz procedure with my smart phone.  I needed to scan some documents for the insurance folks and I was looking for an Office Depot-like store.  She said, “Why don’t you just use “Genius Scan!” Even as I was saying the question, it dawned on me what it likely was and I was awestruck by the obviousness of it.  If you don’t know, it’s an app (“see, there is an app for that!”).  And, it uses your phone’s camera to take a picture of your document (a scan is, afterall, just a picture of the document).  Brilliant!  It’s taking me some practice to get good at it, but now I can scan stuff anytime I need to.  Thanks Kristina!!
Following radiation we came back to the lodge.  Muggy participated in a hat decorating event in anticipation of the ladies tea tomorrow afternoon.  This is indicative of what this place is like.  Activities, groups coming in with prepared meals.  Have I told you it’s an amazing experience?!
I went to the gym tonight and worked out for about an hour.  Yes, I am feeling that good and for every one of you who is praying for me/us…thank you!!  It’s working.  I’m feeling great and will continue to work out as I am able.
I had a small epiphany last night after preparing the blog entry.  It couldn’t have been just a coincidence that I wrote about the leaves Marcia told us about and the leaves on the collimator!!  I just think the correlation is way cool!  My radiation therapist was impressed today that I knew what a collimator is and what it does.  He said if I keep studying, he’ll let me run the controls for one of my sessions.
Wait a minute!  Do you think he’s kidding me?  How can I be on the table and outside the door to run the equipment?  I think he’s pulling my leg!!
Muggy kindly acquiesced to making a movie tonight to show you our place.  I’ve never put a video on the blog, so I’m anxious to see how it works.
Blessings to all!  Thanks for reading!
