I finished my radiation appointment early on Friday
and headed back to the lodge. Muggy was
up and ready to throw the bags in the car.
Before departing, I chose to prepare and eat a couple of eggs and a ½
piece of toast; I was hungry!
Hunger
satiated, it was time to point the Fit south and head for home as a grand event
awaited us in Warner Robins.
The
athletic event of the season was scheduled for 7:00pm Friday night, under the
lights behind the Assembly of God Church on west Watson Blvd. The Christ Chapel Warner Robins Anthem Youth
organization was playing the Anthem Adults in a “friendly” game of softball.
The
traffic encountered at the field was a little challenging as interest in the
game was running high. Middle Georgia
offered up a beautiful Friday evening with temperatures in the upper 50’s at
game time. The crowd was excited in
anticipation of what would prove to be a hard fought battle.

The Competitors |
The
PA system regaled us with energetic songs which further served to heighten the
excitement surrounding this competition.
The teams both gathered on the infield and offered some last trash
talking and then a prayer for blessings over the game and all the players.
Seven
hard fought innings ensued. The adults
stepped out to an early lead, but the Anthem Youth battled valiantly. The crowd was on the edges of their
seats. The dancer kept the fans
entertained between innings; you know who you are!!

When
the last out was tallied, the adults had prevailed 11-6, but the adults knew
that this would likely be their last year of victory as the youth have some
pretty capable ball players.
And,
with that, we headed home to enjoy a restful night’s sleep after a pretty long
day.
Saturday
was a very, very lazy and restful day. I
did enjoy breakfast with young grandson Dylan J. and he amazed me with his
concept for language arts. This young
man is a deep thinker!
I
received an amazing gift from sister-in-law Cathy, a book entitled “Growing
Through the Narrow Places” by Ruth Bachman. She’s
a cancer survivor also.
In
a previous post, I had introduced you to Joe from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He’s another cancer survivor, unfortunately,
his brain has been affected and he actually thought that LSU was going to win
the game with the Dawgs Saturday afternoon. Sorry Joe!
What a great game…especially because Georgia won!
And, speaking of winning. Muggy, Erik and I have had a hot Risk game
going for about a week now. We concluded
it Sunday evening and MUGGY WON!! She
dominated the world!!
Yahoo!! I made the blog! I am so honored! It was wonderful to spend some time with you (Socks) and the Mugster this weekend! You are looking great! Keep up the good work with the blog and your journey!
